Hold The Throne (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use holdthethrone.com (the “Site”), browse our directory and articles, save items, sign up for our newsletter, submit a brand, request verification or advertising, buy a digital product, or make a donation, and how we use and protect that information. By using the Site, you agree to this Policy. This Policy works alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Hold The Throne is the controller of personal information collected through the Site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@holdthethrone.com.
2. Information you give us
We collect information you provide directly, including when you:
- Buy or download a digital product or make a donation or tip — processed by our payment providers (Stripe, PayPal). This may include your name, email address, billing details, and transaction information. We do not store your full card number; payment card details are handled by the payment provider.
- Sign up for our newsletter — your email address and any preferences.
- Submit a brand, use “Add a brand”, request “Get Verified”, or enquire about advertising / the media kit — your name, email, business or brand details, links, and anything else you choose to send. Business contact details and any materials you submit may be used to assess, list, or feature a brand (see our Terms).
- Contact us or correspond with us — your email address and the contents of your message.
- Interact with us on social platforms — handled under those platforms’ own policies.
3. Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).
- Device and browser information (such as browser type, operating system, language, and screen settings).
- IP address and approximate location.
- Usage data (pages visited, time on page, referring URLs, clicks, and how you navigate the Site).
Some of this is collected through analytics and advertising tools, and some affiliate or third-party platforms (such as Amazon and AWIN) may also set their own cookies when you follow their links. We do not control those platforms.
4. The “saved” / favourites feature
The Site lets you save listings. Depending on your setup, saved items may be stored locally in your browser and/or associated with limited information to provide the feature. Clearing your browser data may remove locally saved items.
5. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- deliver digital products and process donations and payments securely (via Stripe and PayPal);
- send our newsletter and other communications if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- respond to enquiries, brand submissions, verification, and advertising requests, and operate those features;
- operate, maintain, personalise, and improve the Site and its content and features;
- measure and analyse performance and audience using analytics tools;
- serve and measure advertising, including through third-party ad networks;
- protect, secure, and troubleshoot the Site and prevent fraud or abuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
The Site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for essential functionality, analytics, and advertising. These include:
- Analytics — for example Google Analytics (and Google Site Kit) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to understand how the Site is used and improve it.
- Advertising — for example Google AdSense and its partners, which may use cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Affiliate networks — such as Amazon Associates and AWIN, which may set cookies to attribute purchases made after you follow an affiliate link.
- Essential and preference cookies — to make the Site work and remember your choices.
You can control cookies through any consent banner shown on the Site and through your browser settings (you can block or delete cookies, though some features may then not work). You can manage personalised advertising via your Google Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com), and through industry opt-outs such as aboutads.info/choices (US) and youronlinechoices.eu (EU/UK). For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google’s “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” policy.
7. Legal bases for processing (UK/EU users)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases: consent (for example, newsletter sign-up, and non-essential cookies and personalised ads); performance of a contract (to deliver a digital product or process a donation you requested); legitimate interests (to run, secure, analyse, and improve the Site and our business, where not overridden by your rights); and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law).
8. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed:
- With service providers / processors who act on our behalf — payment providers (Stripe, PayPal), email/newsletter tools, analytics and advertising providers (such as Google and Meta), hosting and security providers — under appropriate terms.
- With affiliate and advertising partners, which independently set their own cookies and process data under their own policies when you interact with their links or ads.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — if the Site or business is sold, merged, or reorganised, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process and store information in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) where required by law.
10. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here — for example, to fulfil a purchase or donation, to maintain newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information (“right to erasure”);
- restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing and profiling for personalised ads;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time (including by unsubscribing from the newsletter via the link in any email); and
- complain to a data protection authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office).
California residents: you may request access to or deletion of your personal information and may opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; we do not sell personal information for money, and you can limit ad personalisation as described in Section 6.
To exercise any right, email info@holdthethrone.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
12. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit, to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can still control tracking through the cookie and advertising controls described in Section 6.
15. Third-party links
The Site links to third-party websites, brands, retailers, and providers. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. When you follow a link, that third party’s privacy policy applies.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date will change. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Policy.
17. Contact us
For privacy questions, or to access, correct, or delete your information: info@holdthethrone.com — responses time is slow.
