Eco Amenities
Ladera is planting trees and plants that fruit for the endangered Saint Lucia parrot to create a sanctuary on its land, and runs a guided nature trail on Pitons biodiversity. Solar water heating for hot water and LED lighting throughout; Green Globe confirms solar water heaters supply suites and the kitchen. No renewable electricity. A rain harvesting and storage programme, which Green Globe says stores water for landscape irrigation. Green Globe's recertification article, dated 7 August 2024 in its page metadata, states locally and organically produced vegetables make up 70 percent of kitchen purchases; the current official community page restates that almost all food comes from the property and local organic farms. Hand built into the Piton landscape using wood, stone and clay sustainably sourced on the property, with furniture made in the resort's own woodshop. Ladera Resort is listed under Platinum Members on Green Globe's Caribbean members directory; Green Globe's 7 August 2024 article reports a 91 percent compliance score at recertification. The directory defines Platinum as 10 consecutive years, while Green Globe says Ladera was first certified in 2018, so the tier label looks inconsistent but membership is current.
