The story

About AYA

Owner · Meli & Rensso H is the owner of AYA.

AYA (ecoaya) is a plastic-free brand founded in 2022 by Peruvian-American siblings Meli and Rensso Hinostroza that owns its production facility in Lima and makes everything single-origin in Peru, from fibre to finished garment. AYA uses organic Peruvian Pima cotton (regenerative, hand-harvested) and royal alpaca (~19 micron, hand-sheared annually by Andean communities), dyed with plant-based and cochineal dyes with wastewater reused for irrigation. Its vertical integration and single-country sourcing give strong traceability, but AYA openly states it withholds full supplier information as a competitive measure and does not name the specific farms, herding communities or spinners, so upstream disclosure remains partial.

MaterialsEvery AYA garment is made from 100% organic Pima cotton grown in Peru, a pure plant fibre AYA pairs with elastic bands of tree rubber and cotton, 100% Pima cotton threads and 100% organic cotton…
SourcingAYA keeps every step of its supply chain in a single place of origin, sourcing organic Pima cotton from the north of Peru and owning its production facility in Lima where AYA sews each garment…
End of lifeAYA colours its Pima cotton with 100% natural dyes from indigo and eucalyptus alongside GOTS certified low impact synthetic dyes, offers undyed Natural White pieces, and reuses leftover material so no fabric goes to waste.

Possible flags 3 fields
Sourcing red flagsBrand explicitly declines to publish supplier details as a competitive-secrecy measure; specific cotton farms and alpaca communities unnamed; a third-party investigation questioned the '100% plastic-free' marketing; some certification claims (GOTS/OEKO-TEX) appear via a retailer directory rather than prominently on-site
Possible flags
Mix 2 Pack - Men's Alpaca Travel T-Shirt & Travel ShortsThe description mentions alpaca, which is not in the stated composition (likely a trim, lining or care note); it is not counted in the score.

Work out the real cost per wear

Use the price and realistic wear count to compare long-term value.

£0.00 per wear

Cost per wear is the honest test behind "buy less, buy better": a £200 coat worn 300 times beats a £25 one worn 5 times. It rewards wearing what you own and choosing things built to last.
