About

A working aquatic sea moss farm in Charlestown Bay on Canouan that you can actually go out on. The cultivator, Junior, takes visitors around the floating cultivation ropes and explains how the crop is grown and harvested, with his daughter Shevorne handling the arrangements.

This is the rare thing in the Grenadines: not a shop selling the product but the place it is grown, in the water, explained by the person growing it.

Why it is eco / at the source

Line farmed sea moss uses no fresh water, no land, no feed and no chemicals, on islands where fresh water is the binding constraint. SeaMoss Boss is a member business of the SeaMoss Association of St Vincent and the Grenadines, so it sits inside the community structure rebuilding the industry after Hurricane Beryl.
