Herbs & Bush Medicine
Basil
SpotBrush the leaves and follow your nose. Thick-leaf Rasta thyme (Spanish thyme), aromatic basil, and the knobbly ginger and turmeric roots hiding underground.
The goodThe valley's medicine cabinet. Rasta thyme brewed traditionally for a cough and cold; ginger tea to settle the belly and warm the body; turmeric, the golden root, taken for stiffness and inflammation; thyme and oregano, everyday kitchen antiseptics our people always kept close.

SpotFragrant seasoning-pepper bushes (aromatic, not fiery), clumps of scallion, and bell and hot peppers ripening red.
The goodThe green-seasoning base of every good pot. Seasoning peppers and scallion carry the flavour; sweet peppers are rich in vitamin C; a little pepper heat to move the blood and open the chest.
