About Nazeerah

Nazeerah makes its garments from regenerative Egyptian cotton that is Demeter certified biodynamic, OEKO-Tex 100 certified and Fair Trade, sourced through SEKEM from family farms. The brand also works with Italian linen blended with Egyptian cotton, TENCEL Lyocell derived from wood pulp from eucalyptus trees in Australia, organic denim woven from organic cotton deadstock yarn sourced from Sudan and Benin, and deadstock fabrics primarily made from Egyptian cotton, with all fabrics meeting OEKO-Tex 100 standards.
All Nazeerah garments are responsibly made in a regional supply chain in Egypt, all within a few hours drive from Cairo, spanning from farm to mill and factory to finished product. The brand makes weekly onsite visits to ensure compliance, quality and worker welfare, validating conditions without relying on third-party auditors and maintaining direct relationships with all of its suppliers.
The TENCEL Lyocell used by Nazeerah is produced in a closed-loop process, certified to meet FSC and PEFC standards, and certified for biodegradability and compostability. Packaging from Nazeerah is 100% plastic-free, recyclable and naturally biodegradable, with paper garment bags made from 100% renewable FSC certified paper fibres, mailers made from 100% recycled content in the USA, and hang tags made from FSC certified paper.

Where this brand isn't perfect

Check firstNot a certified B Corp

Nazeerah is not a B Corp. The brand-level labels are thinner than the product-level ones.

Skip it ifFarms, mill and cut-and-sew factory are not individually named and no supplier list exists; relies on self-managed weekly visits instead of third-party audits or certification; organic/biodynamic/regenerative claims are not third-party certified.

What the label won’t tell you

The questions sensitive skin actually asks, answered

42/42 styles scanned, no sampling 100% plant · 0% synthetic PFAS-free (brand claim) ✓ read from the live product feed, not the marketing page
?Are there hidden chemicals against my skin?
~9% of people react to formaldehyde, common in wrinkle-free and easy-care finishes.
Nazeerah is PFAS-free (brand claim). Dye process on record: Low-impact / GOTS-certified dyes. We record the dye process and chemical flags for every brand.
?Is “100% cotton” actually 100%?
Most “cotton” underwear hides elastane or spandex in the waistband, exactly what sensitive skin reacts to.
We read all 42 styles individually: 100% plant, 0% synthetic. Even the elastics are bio-based, not spandex. We flag any style whose description hints at a trim.
?Is “sustainable” just greenwashing?
“Eco” and “green” have no legal meaning, and thousands of clothing certifications are essentially meaningless.
We scanned 42 styles from the store’s own product feed and publish a score only at full coverage.
?Will the elastic bring me out in a rash?
Latex and rubber in waistbands are a top trigger for contact dermatitis and latex allergy.
100% plant, 0% synthetic across the catalogue means the elastics aren’t spandex. Set your allergy profile and we only show you brands that clear it.
?Am I shedding microplastics onto my body?
Synthetic underwear sheds microplastics into skin and water with every wash.
100% plant fibre, plastic-free, so there’s zero synthetic to shed. Every style read individually, no sampling.
?Where is it really made, and by whom?
“Ethical” brands rarely name the farm or factory, so wage and safety claims cannot be checked.
We publish the full sourcing chain, farm and factory certifications, traceability level and the honest red flags, including where sources conflict. Traceability on record: Not disclosed; factory: Egypt (production team based in Cairo).

Sources: consumer research on formaldehyde in easy-care fabrics (~9% of people react), PFAS in water- and stain-resistant finishes, and hypoallergenic underwear for eczema and contact dermatitis.

Straight answers

Is Nazeerah sustainable and ethical?+
Nazeerah is strongly sustainable on materials: our scan of all 27 styles found 100% plant fibre (0% synthetic, 0% animal). Documented facts: Nazeerah is independent and founder-run (Emily Mikhaiel + Mahmoud El-Gazzar + Eissa Mohamed); it makes garments in Egypt; it sources organic cotton through SEKEM, a genuinely long-established and independently certified biodynamic organization (GOTS, Demeter, Fair Trade), which lends real credibility to its cotton certification claims; the store is live and trading. Marketing cla
Where is Nazeerah made?+
Nazeerah garments are made in Egypt through a regional, vertically integrated supply chain described by the brand and press as "farm to mill to finished product." Production is centred on villages in Upper Egypt (sources cite the Negada, Qena and Luxor areas), with the brand headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA and its manufacturing co-founders based in Cairo.
Who owns Nazeerah?+
Nazeerah is an independent, founder-owned brand co-founded by Emily Mikhaiel (a fashion designer with an environmental law background, based in Portland, Oregon) together with Cairo-based apparel-manufacturing veterans Mahmoud El-Gazzar and Eissa Mohamed. Nazeerah was registered around 2017 and officially launched in May 2024, and is named after Mikhaiel's paternal grandmother, a seamstress from a village near Sohag in Upper Egypt. It is not owned by any parent company or conglomerate; the two co-founders run an apparel consultancy (started 2021) and previously helped produce garments for Wrangler, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
Is Nazeerah legit and worth it?+
Nazeerah is a real, currently-trading legitimate business. Its e-commerce site nazeerah.com is live and actively selling womenswear (e.g. Kermina Jean $148, Ranya Trouser $165, Lamis Dress $168, Martina Blazer $248) with normal shipping and returns operations, and the brand has been covered by multiple independent outlets in 2024 to 2025 (CairoScene, The Manual, PRWeb, Conscious Chatter). A men's capsule collection was announced for Spring 2025.
Is Nazeerah fast fashion?+
Nazeerah is a small-batch, slow-fashion brand, not fast fashion. Nazeerah produces a limited ready-to-wear range through direct farmer and factory relationships, uses regenerative/biodynamic Egyptian cotton, deadstock denim yarn and natural trims (shell and horn buttons), designs for biodegradability and repairability, and operates at intentionally limited scale rather than high-volume rapid turnover. Price points ($48 $295) and vertically integrated Egyptian production are consistent with a premium slow-fashion positioning.
Is Nazeerah non-toxic and safe for skin?+
Nazeerah is largely non-toxic: 100% of its range is plant fibre that breathes and biodegrades, with 0% plastic-based synthetics that can shed microplastics. Certifications: Nazeerah states on its own Materials & Packaging page that "all of our regenerative Egyptian cotton fabrics are GOTS certified organic, Demeter certified biodynamic, OEKO-Tex 100 Certified, and Fair Trade." Its organic cotton is sourced via SEKEM, a long-established (founded 1977) Egyptian biodynamic organization that independently holds GOTS, Demeter Biodynamic Federation and Fair Trade certifications, which corroborates the cotton claim. Nazeerah's denim (organic-cotton deadstock yarn from Sudan and Benin) is stated to be GOTS certified organic and OEKO-Tex 100 Certified; its Italian linen/cotton blend and deadstock fabrics are stated to meet OEKO-Tex 100 standards. No B Corp or European Flax (Masters of Linen) certification is claimed. Note: these certifications are attributed by the brand to specific fabrics/suppliers (chiefly SEKEM's cotton), not as a company-wide certification of Nazeerah itself; independent verification of each fabric's certificate number was not located..
Is Nazeerah certified?+
Nazeerah holds the following certifications: Nazeerah states on its own Materials & Packaging page that "all of our regenerative Egyptian cotton fabrics are GOTS certified organic, Demeter certified biodynamic, OEKO-Tex 100 Certified, and Fair Trade. Beyond any paper certification, our scan of 26 Nazeerah styles found 92.3% is 100% plant fibre, which is the measurable material fact behind Nazeerah's claims.
What is Nazeerah denim made of?+
Our scan of all 27 Nazeerah styles found 100% of the range is 100% plant fibre, with 0% animal fibre, 0% synthetic and 0% semi-synthetic. The most common fibres in the Nazeerah styles we read were cotton and linen. That composition is the measurable fact behind what Nazeerah is made of, so check the specific Nazeerah label for any individual piece.
