Oat Shoes, founded in the Netherlands in 2010 by designer Christiaan Maats, made biodegradable sneakers from hemp, cork and a custom biodegradable leather with embedded wildflower seeds, and stated that all materials and production were kept within Europe as a point of pride. However this is disclosed only at the ‘within Europe’ region level, with no named factories, mills or suppliers, and the brand appears to be historical/inactive, so information cannot be verified against current operations.
