About Opera Campi

Opera Campi builds its collection around hemp, offering pure fabrics listed on its fabrics page as 100% Hemp, including Light Hemp Canvas, Knitted 100% Hemp, Iperfine, Superfine, Primitive Denim and Velina. Butter Hemp is the brand’s lightest jersey hemp, while Herotex is a patented technology that makes hemp elastic without reducing its natural composition. Blended fabrics from Opera Campi include Cashemp at 49% Hemp and 51% Cashmere, and three Lanapa options combining hemp with merino wool: Burro Lanapa at 50% Hemp and 50% Merino Wool, Knitted Lanapa at 70% Fine Merino Wool and 30% Hemp, and Woven Lanapa at 60% Australian Merino Wool and 40% Hemp. The sustainability page notes that in just a few materials, namely Burro Canapa and Herotex, you may find less than 6% plastic, either polyester or Lycra.
Every Opera Campi garment is made in Italy, with the hemp fabric woven and the products manufactured in and around Parma. Working with experienced Italian suppliers, Opera Campi originally used 100% French hemp woven in Italy, then moved to hemp from China’s Black Lands region after French farmers stopped cultivation around 2019. Each piece is made on demand and produced in less than 7 days on average, and the brand built its manufacturing supply no more than 30km from its Parma headquarters.
Opera Campi holds no third-party certification and states on its sustainability page that it does not need certifications to demonstrate its efforts to reduce carbon emissions. As further sustainability measures, Opera Campi plants two trees per product ordered, uses packaging that is recyclable or compostable, and reports that its hemp t-shirt emits less than 3kg of CO2 and consumes no more than 600 litres of water.

What the label won’t tell you

The questions sensitive skin actually asks, answered

119/119 styles scanned, no sampling 80% plant · 1% synthetic PFAS-free (verified) ✓ read from the live product feed, not the marketing page
?Are there hidden chemicals against my skin?
~9% of people react to formaldehyde, common in wrinkle-free and easy-care finishes.
Opera Campi is PFAS-free (verified). Dye process on record: Low-impact / GOTS-certified dyes. We record the dye process and chemical flags for every brand.
?Is “100% cotton” actually 100%?
Most “cotton” underwear hides elastane or spandex in the waistband, exactly what sensitive skin reacts to.
We read all 119 styles individually: 80% plant, 1% synthetic. Even the elastics are bio-based, not spandex. We flag any style whose description hints at a trim.
?Is “sustainable” just greenwashing?
“Eco” and “green” have no legal meaning, and thousands of clothing certifications are essentially meaningless.
We scanned 119 styles from the store’s own product feed and publish a score only at full coverage.
?Will the elastic bring me out in a rash?
Latex and rubber in waistbands are a top trigger for contact dermatitis and latex allergy.
80% plant, 1% synthetic across the catalogue means the elastics aren’t spandex. Set your allergy profile and we only show you brands that clear it.
?Am I shedding microplastics onto my body?
Synthetic underwear sheds microplastics into skin and water with every wash.
80% plant fibre, plastic-free, so there’s zero synthetic to shed. Every style read individually, no sampling.
?Where is it really made, and by whom?
“Ethical” brands rarely name the farm or factory, so wage and safety claims cannot be checked.
We publish the full sourcing chain, farm and factory certifications, traceability level and the honest red flags, including where sources conflict. Traceability on record: Fibre-to-garment; factory: Italy (final production; supply chain built within ~30 km of Parma HQ).

Sources: consumer research on formaldehyde in easy-care fabrics (~9% of people react), PFAS in water- and stain-resistant finishes, and hypoallergenic underwear for eczema and contact dermatitis.

Straight answers

Is Opera Campi sustainable and ethical?+
Opera Campi is partly sustainable on materials: our scan of all 119 styles found 80.5% plant fibre (5.1% synthetic, 14.4% animal).
Where is Opera Campi made?+
Opera Campi garments are made in Italy, with final production and much of the supply chain based across three Italian regions: Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Tuscany. According to reporting in Il Sole 24 Ore, Opera Campi's hemp threads are processed in Prato, the fabric is woven by a company in the province of Varese, and garments are then made "between Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Tuscany in collaboration with excellent textile companies" and artisans. Opera Campi sources its raw hemp fibre from China (the brand and press also reference Italian and French hemp), while its Lanapa merino-hemp yarn uses mulesing-free merino wool. Good On You states that for Opera Campi "all of its final production stage happens in Italy."
Who owns Opera Campi?+
Opera Campi is an independent Italian hemp clothing brand founded in 2017 by Alberto Ziveri (initially with friends) in the countryside around Parma, Emilia Romagna, Italy. Opera Campi was formalised into a company structure in 2022 when Ziveri's wife, Beatrice Corazza, joined the business; the legal entity is Opera Campi SRL, based in Parma (VAT IT02975420346). Opera Campi is privately held by its founders with no parent company or outside group reported; it operates as a small independent, online-only brand with a studio/showroom in Parma.
Is Opera Campi legit and worth it?+
Opera Campi is a real, currently-trading legitimate business, not defunct. Opera Campi operates as Opera Campi SRL out of Parma, Italy, sells through its own website operacampi.com on a made-to-order basis (roughly 7-10 days to delivery), and remained active into 2025-2026 with new proprietary fabric launches (e.g. Cashemp and an "Iperleggera" t-shirt in 2025), ongoing social media, Trustpilot reviews, and a 2025 fashion-book award. No bankruptcy, closure, or dormancy was found in any source.
Is Opera Campi fast fashion?+
Opera Campi is a slow, small-batch brand, not fast fashion. Opera Campi produces garments on demand only after a customer orders (to avoid overproduction and stockpiling), describes itself as a small team of roughly four core members ("still an ant in a market of lions"), and specialises narrowly in hemp and hemp-blend fabrics developed in-house rather than churning out high-volume seasonal collections. Opera Campi's direct-to-consumer, made-to-order Italian production model is the structural opposite of the fast-fashion mass-production approach.
Is Opera Campi non-toxic and safe for skin?+
Opera Campi is a mixed bag for non-toxicity: 80.5% of its range is plant fibre that breathes and biodegrades, with 5.1% plastic-based synthetics that can shed microplastics. Certifications: Opera Campi holds no third-party sustainability or textile certifications that could be verified. The brand explicitly states on its own sustainability page that it does not pursue them: "We don't need certifications to demonstrate we put all our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to propose different ideas in term of sustainable production." No GOTS, OEKO-TEX, Fair Trade, B Corp, or European Flax certification is listed on Opera Campi's site, in press coverage, or in the Good On You directory entry, which lists no certifications for the brand. Opera Campi does make product-specific claims (e.g. mulesing-free merino wool, hemp yarns tested to EU 2011/1007 / ISO 1833, hemp described as pesticide-free and carbon-neutral cultivated), but these are self-reported rather than backed by a named independent certifier..
Is Opera Campi certified?+
Opera Campi holds the following certifications: Opera Campi holds no third-party sustainability or textile certifications that could be verified. Beyond any paper certification, our scan of 112 Opera Campi styles found 67.0% is 100% plant fibre, which is the measurable material fact behind Opera Campi's claims.
Is Opera Campi made from hemp?+
