A Safari Week in the Tuli Block
The Tuli Block is Botswana’s quiet eastern corner, where the country meets South Africa and Zimbabwe along the Limpopo. They call it the Land of Giants for its elephants, and it is wilder and emptier than the famous parks to the north.
I base the week at Tuli Safari Lodge, which runs off-grid on solar and grows much of its own food. The plan is simple and the best kind of trip: game drives morning and evening, and a few days doing nothing at all in between.

Morning game drive
Out before dawn for the cool hours when the animals move.

Out again in the late afternoon past thousand-year-old baobabs and balancing rocks, ending with a drink somewhere with a view as the sun drops.
A guided walking safari
Swap the vehicle for your own two feet with an armed guide, reading the small things you miss from a truck: tracks, dung, birds, the way the bush actually works.
Final morning drive
A last drive at first light, then a slow breakfast and the transfer out.
