Confirmed: red light only, white torches banned as they disorient turtles; visitors may NOT walk the beach searching and must wait at the entrance until a spotter locates a nesting female; no sighting guaranteed and if none by 11pm the tour ends with a free return – so the operation does NOT chase or corner animals to manufacture a sighting. Guided night patrol on Levera Beach to watch leatherbacks nest, run by St Patrick's Environmental and Community Tourism Organisation, a local non-profit running it since 2010 with three trained guides. Community-owned non-profit; income goes back into rural St Patrick communities and funds local climate and biodiversity work. Collaborates with the Ocean Spirits research team and Department of Fisheries, so visitors join a monitored research beach. Levera holds one of the top three nesting leatherback populations in the region.
