MUD Jeans makes denim from up to 55% post-consumer recycled cotton, which the brand calls the highest percentage out there, and most of its denim consists of 45 to 75% organic cotton mostly supplemented with recycled cotton. In its stretch jeans MUD Jeans uses a maximum of 3% recycled elastane and T400. Named constructions from the brand include EVERBLUE at 33% post-consumer recycled denim and 67% Saxcell, and ComfortLux at 25% post-consumer recycled denim, 21% pre-consumer recycled cotton, 25% Refibra Lyocell, 27% organic cotton and 2% recycled elastane. MUD Jeans states that it created the first jeans made from 100% post-consumer recycled cotton.

As a little Dutch brand, MUD Jeans manufactures 0.004% of the entire 75 billion dollar global denim economy. MUD Jeans names its supply chain partners by role, with Yousstex International handling stitching and washing, Recover doing shedding, mixing and spinning, Tejidos Royo covering dyeing and weaving, cotton farmers picking, and Active Ants managing logistics. MUD Jeans states that 90% of the workers at Yousstex International are women, and that all of its main supply chain partners have signed its Code of Conduct.

MUD Jeans exists to eliminate textile waste by keeping denim in circulation indefinitely through repair, resell and fibre-to-fibre recycling. Across 2023 the brand reports that its circular denim model avoided around 1.4 million kilos of CO2e, saved around 153 million litres of water and kept 24,108 jeans from landfill or incineration. Per pair, MUD Jeans reports 3.5 kg CO2e against a 33 kg industry baseline, an 89% CO2e saving, and 460 litres of water against a 3,700 litre baseline, an 87% water saving.
