Story mfg. makes its clothing from plant fibres including organic cotton, a 55% cotton and 45% linen fabric, a cotton and hemp blend, and Tencel made from wood pulp, and it also uses recycled synthetics made from post-consumer plastic waste such as bottles and packaging. Everything Story mfg. produces is vegan and cruelty-free, and the brand never uses animal products because it does not believe there is anything sustainable or positive in raising and slaughtering other creatures.
Story mfg. is a husband and wife team who work with a large group of dyers, weavers, embroiderers and tailors, with hand-woven fabrics always woven specially for the brand by people who choose weaving as a vocation. Natural fibre offcuts are collected from production and reused for lining, stuffing or other items at Story mfg., while offcuts too small to reuse are turned into paper for hangtags and packaging, and its dyeing takes place in a re-planted forest where all waste is used to fertilise the gardens.
