Standard Tampax tampons are a blend of cotton and viscose rayon with a plastic applicator, so Tampax does not pass the Throne Standard as a pure plant-fibre product. Rayon is a chemically regenerated (semi-synthetic) fibre, and Tampax applicators are plastic. Tampax is owned by Procter & Gamble. Note: Tampax’s separate “Cotton Protection” line uses a 100% organic cotton core and would score higher.
