About Boyish Jeans

Boyish Jeans makes its vegan denim from OCS 100 certified organic cotton, Tencel Lyocell, recycled cotton and GRS-certified recycled fabrics, with Tencel x Refibra Lyocell woven in and absolutely zero leather or animal products used. According to Boyish, Tencel uses just a fifth of the land and a tenth of the water to produce compared to traditional cotton.
Most Boyish Jeans production sits in Turkey, where the cotton is sourced from Izmir, the mills run in Adana and the jeans are sewn in Istanbul, while the Tencel yarns come from a nearby manufacturer in Austria. Suppliers of these Boyish denim pieces must sign a Code of Conduct, factories pay average wages over the minimum wage through the Lowest Wage Challenge, and Intertek carries out third-party audits up and down the supply chain, with each style designed in Los Angeles.
Sustainability runs deeper into the Boyish Jeans fabric through Refibra, which is biodegradable, alongside reduced indigo from DyStar with about 80 percent less sulphates and natural plant-based dyes. Buttons, rivets and other hardware on Boyish denim are made from recycled metal.

What the label won’t tell you

The questions sensitive skin actually asks, answered

47 of 70 styles scanned, no sampling 94% plant · 47% synthetic PFAS-free (verified) ✓ read from the live product feed, not the marketing page
Are there hidden chemicals against my skin?

Boyish Jeans is PFAS-free (verified). 47 of 70 styles scanned: zero PFAS, zero formaldehyde, dye process on record: Low-impact / GOTS-certified dyes

Is "sustainable" just greenwashing?

“Eco” and “green” have no legal meaning, and thousands of unverified claims flood the market. We scanned 70 styles from the store’s own product feed and publish a score only at full coverage. We read certificates, not adjectives.
And nothing is hidden: 39 products wouldn’t scan cleanly and 7 were excluded. Every one is named in the sourcing ledger below.

Is "100% cotton"
actually
100% cotton?

Most “cotton” underwear hides elastane or spandex in the trims. We read the stated fibres on 47 of 70 styles, thread by thread: 94% plant, 47% synthetic.

47%
Will the elastic bring me out in a rash?

Latex and rubber waistbands are a top trigger for contact eczema. Elastic check across the catalogue: No elastane.

Where's it really made,
and by whom?
Named farm and factory
GOTS chain of custodyTraceable back to the cotton

Traceability on record: Fibre-to-garment; factory: Sewn in Istanbul, Turkey; fabric milled in Adana, Turkey; TENCEL fibre from Lenzing, Austria. We publish the full sourcing chain and the honest red flags, including where sources conflict.

Am I shedding microplastics onto my body?

Synthetic underwear sheds plastic fibres onto your skin and into the water with every single wash. Boyish Jeans is 47% synthetic, so yes. These styles shed. Wash cool, use a guppy bag, and favour the plant-fibre options in the range.

Sources: consumer research on formaldehyde in easy-care fabrics (~9% of people react), PFAS in water- and stain-resistant finishes, and hypoallergenic underwear for eczema and contact dermatitis.

Straight answers

Is Boyish Jeans sustainable and ethical?+
DOCUMENTED (third-party / verifiable): Boyish Jeans holds GOTS-certified mills/laundries, GRS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, OCS 100, PETA-Approved Vegan status, and Climate Neutral certification; part of its supply chain is covered by SEDEX SMETA audits, and it uses third-party auditors (Intertek, Control Union). The independent rating platform Good On You rates it "Great" overall (Planet 5/5, People 4/
Where is Boyish Jeans made?+
Boyish Jeans garments are designed in Los Angeles and manufactured in Turkey, with production regionally concentrated: organic cotton is sourced from the Izmir region, milling/laundering is done in Adana, and cutting and sewing take place in Istanbul (per the brand's own sustainability page). Tencel/lyocell yarn is sourced from a manufacturer in Austria. The brand states it uses "regionally close production" to reduce transport emissions.
Who owns Boyish Jeans?+
Boyish Jeans was founded in 2018 by California native Jordan Nodarse, a denim designer who previously co-founded GRLFRND Denim (with Revolve) and worked in denim design for Reformation, among other labels. The brand is designed in Los Angeles. Its legal operating entity is "11345737 Canada Inc" per the boyish.com website footer. No credible evidence indicates it is owned by a larger publicly known parent/conglomerate; it presents as an independent brand operated through that Canadian corporate entity. The identity of any additional owners/investors beyond founder Jordan Nodarse is Not publicly documented.
Is Boyish Jeans legit and worth it?+
Boyish Jeans is a real, currently-trading business as of July 2026. Its e-commerce site (boyish.com) is live and shoppable with current features (New Arrivals, Back In Stock, Klarna checkout), and the brand is stocked by third-party retailers including Farfetch and multiple boutiques, with an active LinkedIn company page. It is the women's/denim clothing brand founded by Jordan Nodarse, distinct from any similarly named entities in other industries.
Is Boyish Jeans fast fashion?+
Boyish Jeans is positioned as a slow/sustainable, small-batch denim brand rather than fast fashion. It focuses on a single core category (denim and related apparel), emphasises small production runs to track its factories (per eco-stylist), uses recycled and lower-impact materials, and markets vintage-inspired styles designed for longevity rather than rapid trend churn. It is not a high-volume, rapid-turnover fast-fashion label.
Is Boyish Jeans non-toxic and safe for skin?+
Certifications: Boyish Jeans states its mills and laundries are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified, and that it uses OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GRS (Global Recycled Standard, third-party certified), OCS 100 (Organic Content Standard), and FSC-certified Tencel inputs; its jeans are PETA-Approved Vegan / cruelty-free. It achieved Climate Neutral certification (reported since 2019) and participates in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Jeans Redesign project, the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero, and the Lowest Wage Challenge. NOTE ON B CORP: Good On You's directory lists "BCorp" among Boyish's certifications, but this is NOT corroborated by the brand's own sustainability page or by eco-stylist, so the B Corp claim is unverified and should not be published as fact. Individual certificate numbers/certifiers per product are Not publicly documented, though the brand names Intertek and Control Union as third-party auditors..
Is Boyish Jeans certified?+
Boyish Jeans holds the following certifications: Boyish Jeans states its mills and laundries are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified, and that it uses OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GRS (Global Recycled Standard, third-party certified), OCS 100 (Organic Content Standard), and FSC-certified Tencel inputs; its jeans are PETA-Approved Vegan / cruelty-free.
What is Boyish Jeans denim made of?+
The most common fibres in the Boyish Jeans styles we read were cotton and hemp. That composition is the measurable fact behind what Boyish Jeans is made of, so check the specific Boyish Jeans label for any individual piece.

Boyish Jeans discloses a clear, largely traceable denim chain: organic cotton grown in Izmir, Turkey, milled in Adana (partners named as Bossa and Strom Denim), sewn in a factory in Istanbul, with TENCEL Lyocell fibre from Lenzing in Austria. It uses a Retraced-powered plugin to show the production chain for selected partners, holds numerous certifications (OCS, GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX, Climate Neutral, PETA-Vegan) and says it visits its factories and cotton farms annually with third-party audits. Disclosure is strong but covers a selected set of named partners rather than a complete supplier list.

Sourcing flags & notes: Named-supplier disclosure covers a select set of partners (via a third-party Retraced plugin) rather than a full, exhaustive supplier list; spinning mill and individual recycled-fabric supplier not separately named.
