About The Classic T-Shirt Company

Every The Classic T-Shirt Company garment is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, a pure plant fibre with no leather, wool, silk or any other animal-derived material. Because The Classic T-Shirt Company uses only certified organic cotton, its pieces are fully vegan and cruelty-free.
The Classic T-Shirt Company sources its GOTS certified organic cotton from local farms in India and manufactures every garment locally in Los Angeles, where pieces are hand-cut, assembled, sewn, quality inspected, pressed and packed on site. Nearly 40 people craft these organic cotton garments under fair, ethical conditions in full compliance with California labor laws, with all breaks and meal periods paid and Workers’ Compensation Insurance in place. As founders, Olga and Paul Garibian visit the factory monthly.
The Classic T-Shirt Company ships its organic cotton pieces plastic-free in 100% recycled and recyclable, paper-based packaging, with no plastic used in production or packaging. By producing locally and in small batches, The Classic T-Shirt Company reduces waste, and the brand has pledged 1% of its profits to charities including Water for People, the Armenia Tree Project and The Ocean Cleanup.

What the label won’t tell you

The questions sensitive skin actually asks, answered

38/38 styles scanned, no sampling 100% plant · 0% synthetic PFAS-free (verified) ✓ read from the live product feed, not the marketing page
?Are there hidden chemicals against my skin?
~9% of people react to formaldehyde, common in wrinkle-free and easy-care finishes.
The Classic T-Shirt Company is PFAS-free (verified). Dye process on record: Low-impact / GOTS-certified dyes. We record the dye process and chemical flags for every brand.
?Is “100% cotton” actually 100%?
Most “cotton” underwear hides elastane or spandex in the waistband, exactly what sensitive skin reacts to.
We read all 38 styles individually: 100% plant, 0% synthetic. Even the elastics are bio-based, not spandex. We flag any style whose description hints at a trim.
?Is “sustainable” just greenwashing?
“Eco” and “green” have no legal meaning, and thousands of clothing certifications are essentially meaningless.
We scanned 38 styles from the store’s own product feed and publish a score only at full coverage.
?Will the elastic bring me out in a rash?
Latex and rubber in waistbands are a top trigger for contact dermatitis and latex allergy.
100% plant, 0% synthetic across the catalogue means the elastics aren’t spandex. Set your allergy profile and we only show you brands that clear it.
?Am I shedding microplastics onto my body?
Synthetic underwear sheds microplastics into skin and water with every wash.
100% plant fibre, plastic-free, so there’s zero synthetic to shed. Every style read individually, no sampling.
?Where is it really made, and by whom?
“Ethical” brands rarely name the farm or factory, so wage and safety claims cannot be checked.
We publish the full sourcing chain, farm and factory certifications, traceability level and the honest red flags, including where sources conflict. Traceability on record: Full farm-to-shelf; factory: Los Angeles, California, USA.

Sources: consumer research on formaldehyde in easy-care fabrics (~9% of people react), PFAS in water- and stain-resistant finishes, and hypoallergenic underwear for eczema and contact dermatitis.

The Classic T-Shirt Company says workers at its LA factory are paid above California minimum wage with parental leave, but it does not publish a formal named factory list.

Sourcing flags & notes: Partner factory is not named and no formal factory list is published; despite the brand's Egyptian-cotton reputation, its own factory page states the cotton is GOTS organic cotton traced to small farms in India.

Straight answers

Is The Classic T-Shirt Company sustainable and ethical?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company is strongly sustainable on materials: our scan of all 38 styles found 100% plant fibre (0% synthetic, 0% animal).
Where is The Classic T-Shirt Company made?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company manufactures its garments in Los Angeles, California, USA, where cutting and sewing take place at a family-run factory (the company says it has "been perfecting their craft for over three decades"). A press release states "100% of sourcing, cutting, and sewing takes place in Los Angeles." The raw material is GOTS-certified organic cotton that the brand says is "ethically sourced from local farms in India." So the fibre originates in India and the garments are cut and sewn in Los Angeles.
Who owns The Classic T-Shirt Company?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company (theclassictshirt.com) was founded in 2018 by husband-and-wife co-founders Paul and Olga Garibian and is an independent, family-run business with no parent company identified. It is based in Los Angeles, California, USA. Multiple sources describe it as founded by the Garibians, inspired by the birth of their daughter Gabriella; a press release states verbatim "Founded in 2018, The Classic T-Shirt Company crafts organic cotton basics for men and women." Note: this is a distinct clothing brand and should not be confused with the same-named wearable-art brand founded by designer Nicosso in 2020, the "Canvas Couture" site at classictshirtcompany.com, or Classic Football Shirts (a vintage-jersey retailer).
Is The Classic T-Shirt Company legit and worth it?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company is a real, currently-trading legitimate business as of July 2026. Its online store (theclassictshirt.com) is active and selling, carries a "© 2026 The Classic T-Shirt Company" footer, and the brand has recent press activity including 2025-2026 product-line launches (women's line, joggers, French Terry). It is independently profiled and rated "Good" by Good On You and reviewed by Sustainable Review, confirming it is a genuine operating brand, not defunct.
Is The Classic T-Shirt Company fast fashion?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company is a slow/small-batch brand, not fast fashion. It focuses on a narrow range of core basics (organic cotton tees, plus joggers, shorts and a French Terry collection) rather than high-volume trend-driven drops, and produces locally in a single Los Angeles factory using GOTS organic cotton. Its independent "Good" ratings and made-to-last, made-in-USA positioning are consistent with a small-batch/ethical model rather than fast fashion.
Is The Classic T-Shirt Company non-toxic and safe for skin?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company is largely non-toxic: 100% of its range is plant fibre that breathes and biodegrades, with 0% plastic-based synthetics that can shed microplastics. Certifications: The Classic T-Shirt Company's only consistently documented third-party certification is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for its organic cotton, referenced on its own site and confirmed by independent reviewers (Good On You, Sustainable Review). No evidence was found that The Classic T-Shirt Company holds OEKO-TEX, Fair Trade, B Corp, or European Flax certification; these are not claimed by the brand or listed by independent reviewers. No public GOTS certificate/licence number was located in the sources reviewed..
Is The Classic T-Shirt Company certified?+
The Classic T-Shirt Company holds the following certifications: The Classic T-Shirt Company's only consistently documented third-party certification is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for its organic cotton, referenced on its own site and confirmed by independent reviewers (Good On You, Sustainable Review). Beyond any paper certification, our scan of 40 The Classic T-Shirt Company styles found 100.0% is 100% plant fibre, which is the measurable material fact behind The Classic T-Shirt Company's claims.
Is The Classic T-Shirt Company 100% cotton?+
Our scan of all 38 The Classic T-Shirt Company styles found 100% of the range is 100% plant fibre, with 0% animal fibre, 0% synthetic and 0% semi-synthetic. So many The Classic T-Shirt Company basics are pure cotton, but The Classic T-Shirt Company's fitted and active styles typically add a small share of synthetic.
