Your Day by Day Dominica Itinerary
Day 1: Roseau on foot
Be clear about money here, because Dominica charges for most of its famous sites through a national Site Pass covering ten locations, and the Waitukubuli National Trail charges visitors separately. Everything in this itinerary sits outside both. Roseau is walkable, green and almost entirely free.
Dominica Botanic Gardens
Forty acres in the middle of the capital, established 1891, holding the bois kwaib national tree. Free, and not on the government site pass list. Walk the grounds and skip the parrot aviary.
Jack's Walk to Morne Bruce
A steep shaded path from behind the gardens up to the Morne Bruce lookout over Roseau. Twenty to thirty minutes, free.

Day 2: South to Scott's Head
The south west tip is where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic, and the headland at Scott's Head sits on the edge of a community managed marine reserve. The reserve charges divers, not walkers, so the climb costs nothing.

Day 3: North coast
The north coast is the quieter half of the island and the beaches are black volcanic sand rather than white. Hampstead is a nesting beach for hawksbill, leatherback and green turtles, so no lights after dark in season and keep off the dunes.
