Day 1

Day 1: Tortola on foot

Start with the forest rather than the beach bars.

Do Morning

Shark Bay National Park

A short walk through shady tropical forest to a rocky beach, a cliff and a lookout, with the boulder known locally as the Bat Cave. No fee, roadside parking.

Do Afternoon

Josiah's Bay

A 300 metre crescent with Atlantic swell and headland trails above. Free with free parking, unlike nearby Lambert which is behind a resort day pass.

Eat Evening

Good Moon Farm

A family owned regenerative organic farm doing farm boxes, tours and farm to table dinners by appointment. Planting by the lunar calendar, natural manures, no insecticides.

Day 2

Day 2: Virgin Gorda

Ferry across for the day.

Do Morning

Gorda Peak National Park

260 acres established in 1974, one of the last remaining examples of Caribbean dry forest in the region, climbing to 1,370 feet. No entrance fee. Home to the endemic Virgin Gorda gecko, one of the smallest lizards in the world.

Day 3: Anegada

The only coral island in the chain.

Do Morning

Flamingo Pond Lookout

A raised platform with a fixed telescope over the Ramsar listed Western Salt Ponds. Free, and built so people watch from a distance rather than approaching the birds. The flamingos were reintroduced in 1992 after the original flock was lost.
